Concentration-Lost in a Digital World
My central idea is "Lost in a Digital World." I created this theme to show how technology has corrupted the brain and the vast majority of people today. This idea can go different routes including: The Road that leads to a digital world, how technology changed the way people think about others, binary and codes working its way through its subject to create a human computer, and the results of technology which can lead to isolation and separation from others. Technology is a powerful thing today which many people experience on a daily basis. Whether of good or bad intentions, this theme shows different perspectives on the way people handle this digital world. The "Digital World" has many consequences that the viewer of my compositions will see, rewards and riches come only to the hard workers in this Dystopia, therefore this theme will show how escaping this world is not as easy as the subject will perceive it to be. The third photo, I wanted to show the impact of using our phones too much. We get drawn into the many problems and things of this world when we should be outside having fun with our friends/family etc. I placed my model outside to show that her phone has become her world and that she is being sucked into it. For the fourth one, the way my subject is viewing people is through a technological view. As we see things online, we see and we evaluate them, the subject is viewing people in this way causing his perception of reality to change, and this causes isolation and him to judge others. The fifth one is my subjects' mind being made up of gears. I wanted to make him into a machine. For example a typewriter needs gears to shift to the next line, I put the binary codes in the back for the effect. I put my subject as a silhouette to show the powerful impact of losing all human nature and becoming a machine. I used a sunset because for the day, that's the last the sun will appear and darkness will overshadow. This is the last his human nature will show. The sixth is a glitch. When something glitches, it distorts and makes the subject seem as something that its not. Turning God's perfect creation into a destruction. The seventh one is a little different from my other ones. My whole idea is lost in a digital world, what better way to portray this as a flash drive in place of grass in the ground. When I imagine this digital world, I imagine less nature and more technology. I have so far caught the people in this world, but this time I wanted to focus on the surroundings. The eighth one is a picture of my subject with his iPad. This resembles how sometimes we are so focused that we tend to disappear from the world around us. Black and white shows mood and I felt as if this picture was a very sad photo, apart from the rest, that it needed to be focused on the sands of this photo. I made sure to take this picture on a gloomy day as well with lots of clouds so I saved this idea until it was cloudy. The ninth one represents how with the touch of my subject's fingertips, they could control the world including the constellations . I wanted to show the idea of this digital world experience. The tenth is a picture of my subject wrapped in cords and headphones showing how they are literally attached to their phone. Sometimes people get so attached that the reflection of themselves is hard to be shown. Here my subject has to work to see their true self on the reflection of the phone. The eleventh photo is a picture of a flower that is being corrupted by binary codes. I explored a lot of subject matters that had to do with people and the consequences it brought upon to them, but I also wanted to show the consequences of nature and as it receives sunlight, the way of growing is through technology and that is why the center of all growth is a circuit plate to control everything. The twelfth photo is a picture of my subject controlling plane routes meaning that anyone taking a plane can be re-routed in this digital world. The thirteenth photo is a picture of all the pixels that make up my subject slowly flying away, and the finishing project will be left with nothing. The fourteenth photo is a picture representing someone's obsession with technology that it has affected their social life, and that no one showed up to her birthday. The fifteenth photo is a picture resembles my subject being attracted to their technolgy. The sixteenth photo is a picture of a high key exposure which made it look futureistic including the effect of turning into a robot. The seventeenth photo is a picture of someone doing anything it takes to take a cool picture. This is a picture of a telephone pole, and typically you shouldn't stand right under it, but my subject was willing to do whatever it took to take the picture for their social media.
